Most retweeted tweets in India
PM Narendra ModiÔÇÖs (@narendramodi ) victorious tweet in May after the General Elections tops the list with a whopping more than 70,000 retweets.
This is closely followed by superstar Salman KhanÔÇÖs popular tweet with a link to his cha-ching making movie KickÔÇÖs trailer. Mind it! RajnikanthÔÇÖs first ever tweet made to the list as the sixth most retweeted one.
ISROÔÇÖs Mars Orbiter a newbie on twitter managed to make way to the top 10 with two of its tweets.
Twitter created the most flutter in India thanks to a splendid piece of record batting by IndiaÔÇÖs Rohit Sharma-264 runs ODI score against SriLanka on 13th November. This closely followed by when superstar Rajnikanth joined twitter on 4th May 2014.
Worldwide the most retweeted tweet which crashed twitter happened to be none other than Oscars 2014 host Ellen DeGeneresÔÇÖ famous selfie featuring Hollywood stars Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts to name a few. The famous tweet was retweeted a record-making more than 3.36 million times.

┬áTaking second place was the Indian Premier Legaue, followed by the entertaining football world cup. Fourth place was taken by ISROÔÇÖs Mars Orbiter Mission. The heart-breaking and devastating Kashmir Floods took the fifth spot.
Actress Alia Bhatt, Xiaomi Mobiles entering the Indian market, Malaysian Airlines, Mary Kom biopic and the Gaza Conflict managed to create a buzz as well.
Instagram too buzzed a lot in the social media front. Tech-savvy PM Narendra Modi again made news on Instagram when he joined the ever so popular photo-sharing network. Narendra ModiÔÇÖs popularity is evident ┬áwith around 258k followers. Worldwide the Instagram fever surpassed singer Justin Bieber as reality star Kim Kardashian was crowned the most followed Instagrammer with more than 22.2 million followers.
Second place honours went to singer Beyonce Knowles.
Justin Bieber had to settle for third place.
With twitter declaring the year 2014 as the year of the ÔÇÿselfieÔÇÖ with its crash-worthy golden tweet that broke all records. Social media has been buzzing with the important events worldwide and is expected to create quite a roar in 2015 as well.
