SIFE is an international non-profit organization that organises college students to make a significant difference in their communities.
SIFE is a team-based activity – you’ll be a member of a team that represents your university to work within the community. These teams of students apply business concepts to new projects with a wide outreach that improve the standard of living for people in need.
It aims to produce socially responsible business leaders. Wow!
SIFE has had numerous successful projects worldwide. A notable one is the village Sevapur Project undertaken by the SIFE Singapore Polytechnic team in collaboration with the Biology department of the Gandhigram Rural University, They constructed a greenhouse for the farmers to utilise wasteland. They lifted the living standard of the farmers by this initiative.

SIFE in India
Founded in 2003 SIFE India has 71 active colleges and over 2500 active members.
SIFE at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, University of Delhi
Established in January 2009, they are a team of 50 today.
SIFE, S.S.C.B.S, are currently working on two acclaimed projects by the names of Sanitation Solutions and Project Akshar.
Aims to ensure the use of hygienic sanitary napkins by women across Delhi slums, through the creation of women entrepreneurs in these slums, who sell napkins at a subsidized rate, thus earning a livelihood for themselves, while ensuring the reach of these napkins to women in need.
Focuses on using oft-wasted resources to empower people in need. It aims to reuse waste paper to create extremely affordable, environment friendly notebooks for children in need. These notebooks are produced by a community of deaf women, in collaboration with the Delhi Foundation of Deaf Women in Paharganj, thereby creating a source of livelihood for them, through entrepreneurship.
Team SIFE SSCBS strives for equal involvement from all members through discussion forums, regular meetings and free flow of ideas, resulting in equal desire to make every project count. The process helps the students not only to fulfil social responsibilities but also exercise business skills
SSCBS : The national SIFE National Champions !
SIFE, S.S.C.B.S were the proud 2011 National Champions. The championships are held annually in each country. The winners then go on to participate in the SIFE Global championships.
SIFE competitions are challenging, team-oriented events that create a sense of accountability and motivation for teams to continually improve the quality of their projects. Students collaborate and share best practices. The idea of competing is to learn and improve the effectiveness of the programmes.

SIFE India Seed Grant
SIFE S.S.C.B.S, DU received the SIFE India grant of Rs. 40,000 in the year 2009.
KPMG Business Ethics Grant 2009 and 2010
Based on how well planned an idea was and how effectively it satisfies various SIFE criteria, KPMG awards grants to various SIFE teams across the country . SIFE S.S.C.B.S, DU in its inaugural year of existence became one of only 12 teams in all of India to be awarded the KPMG Business Ethics grant of Rs. 1 lakh.
SSCBS successfully qualified for the grant in the year 2010 as well.
HSBC Financial Literacy Grant 2010
The HSBC Financial Literacy grant is allocated to projects that are expected to improve financial literacy or the financial skills of entrepreneurs created as a result of SIFE projects. SIFE S.S.C.B.S, DU was one of the teams selected from over 390 applications received for the grant, for our project Sanitation Solutions.
Corporate partners include- KPMG, Tata Motors, TATSAT, NIFT, FMS, Spice, Planman Media, Corporate Executive Board, LSR College for Women, Indraprastha College for Women, etc.

SIFE projects work with a range of community groups, ranging from aspiring entrepreneurs, low-income families, charities,the homeless, the disabled and many, many more.
The teams pass on their knowledge and equip these individuals with the skills and knowledge that they require to help them prosper.
Additionally, one vital thing that all SIFE Teams ensure is the sustainability of their projects as well as of the team as a whole, thus ensuring that future generations of their Team can continue their good work well into the future.
It is a serious effort.
