Since its inception in 1975, Festember has snowballed into one of South India’s biggest annual cultural fests. This year it is happening from the 26th to 29th September, drawing a footfall of more than 10,000 from over 500 colleges across India. It has been awarded the best cultural festival of the year by the State Government of Tamil Nadu in 2005.
Festember with its growing slew of events, performances, workshops and activities, is set to outperform itself. This year, Festember’13, powered by Hero, is being brought to you by Celkon and is in association with Vh1. Festember’13 is one of its kind, presenting opportunities in off-stream workshops such as Magic, Hip Hop, Archery, Tango, and Glass Blowing.
Festember is a platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and an opportunity for budding artists to kick-start their careers. Competitions with prize money of INR 16,00,000 encourages participants to transcend horizons with their sheer prowess and mettle.
The Fest is at its zenith during the pro-shows, which is easily one of the much awaited events. This year the stage is set to be fired by Salim Sulaiman, Guitar Prassana and Baiju Dharmajan (Syndicate Band). The informals are sure to the keep both the participants and the spectators busy and on their toes throughout the spellbinding four days.
Besides the hard partying fiesta, the festival has been preceded by a series of social, educational and health initiatives. They have organized a social venture for school students around Trichy in Bishop Heber School that consisted of nine events encircling pressing social issues across the nation and world. The funds collected were redirected to the Kangaroo Trust, home for the blind, handicapped, mentally challenged and the aged.
Festember spread its wings wide and gained momentum with the curtain raiser, held in Mantri mall, Bangalore, gathering more fervour and vitality. This year’s Golden Jubilee Festember promises to raise the curtains for you to witness and be part of the phenomena involving the brightest stars, events, prize money and bigger crowds than even before.
