For gamers and non gamers, theses 8 games are a perfect combination of fun, easy to play yet not cliché, ancient or immature. So clean your house, bring out the fragrance reefs, order pizzas, get into your most comfortable pjs and turn on your consoles for a great date.

1. Gaucamelee! An action platform indie Drop in- Drop out game, Gaucamelee! is creative in its visual presentation of Mexican folkflore and loaded with funny interesting levels. Nominated for the 2013 Independent Games Festival for Excellence in Visual Art and with 9.1 rating from IGN, Gaucamelee!’s most appealing aspect is it’s simple yet unique gameplay. As characters one of you gets to be Juan Aguacate who has to rescue the daughter of El Presidente and on receiving a mask from a luchador, the option of two player kicks in where Tostada, a mysterious lady wrestler is the second playable character. Romantic enough. Despite not having an AAA budget, the gameplay’s only drawback is that it ends too fast. 2. Little Big Planet LittleBigPlanet 2 is a puzzle-platformer video game, centred around user-generated content. The game is a sequel to Little BigPlanet and continues its storyline giving you the option to be sackboy or sackgirl – or gender neutral, sackperson. The title’s tagline is rightly ‘Play. Create. Share’ as you and your partner while running, grappling, jumping, pushing do not just go through an adorable adventurous entertaining game but also create your own versions of different levels which can then be shared online with other players. 2D shooters, racers, arcade – the game offers you several options. It’s bigger and better than its predecessor but also a little challenging to familiarize with. However the tutorials are easy enough to help you through that. With a 9.7 IGN rating, Little BigPlanet 2 has won numerous awards and is perfect for a fun date night. Platform: PlayStation 3

3. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One If you aren’t familiar with the series, Ratchet and Clank are two amiable badass characters who go around the universe saving it from evil forces. All 4 one being a four-player cooperative video game gives you the option of calling up your close buddies and a having a fun double date! As Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Dr. Nefarious get ready for some serious team work in puzzle solving and taking down enemies. We must advise you that 2 player may be ideal for the game as 4 player may go a little bonkers but nothing too bad to take away from the fun. With high reviews and numerous awards, All for one is truly a ‘platform for games’. Platform: PlayStation 3

Borderlands 2 If you and your partner have a little experience with First Person Shooters and haven’t played Borderlands 2, you are missing out on quirky visuals, witty writing and mind blowing gameplay. The action role playing FPS is packed with so much adventure and entertainment that the spilt screen journey will have you both exploring Pandora in absolute awe of the game’s strong sense of place. With customizable characters you will be gunning down aliens and wining shiny new guns – what more could a couple ask for. 5. Mortal Kombat 9 More than just a date night, Mortal Kombat 9 is perfect for couples counseling as well. The developers combine the violence and gore of the game with a legitimate fighting engine. With a host of fatalities and moves, the action packed fighting game is so addictive you won’t be able to stop yourselves from mastering different characters. To make your 2 player experience even better you have options like test your luck where your character before a fight is either given powers or given disabilities. 6. Injustice: Gods Among Us If you aren’t that much into blood and gore but still love fighting games, Injustice offers you all the grandeur of DC universe in an action packed superhero game. From the creators of Mortal Kombat series, Netherrealm studios brings you the most engrossing gameplay that combines the best of creative fighting engine, interactive environments and DC’s finest. The tutorial makes this crazy number of options a breeze to learn and just to warn you in advance, the game is addictive. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World This 8 and 16 bit game is old school and gives you the option of four players. 7 levels to plunge through with a romantic story line and packed with zombie and paparazzi to beat up, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is best played 4 players and is absolutely enjoyable. Adorable animation and a great art style, the game can be enjoyed by gamers and non gamers alike. With an impressive rating of 8 on IGN it’s a definite consideration for your date night.
