Fest O’ Comm 2008
Three days… big promises… and all delivered… Fest O’ Comm 2008, the annual on-campus communication festival of the Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication (SIMC), Pune and the largest one of its kind in India. While stalwarts from the media kept the Gyaan Ganga flowing with amazing insights and industry fundas, the young brigade of the organizers made sure the participants had a blast with a series of exciting cultural and fun events.
Each day of the festival was dedicated to a specialization and had seminars and workshops on topical issues affecting the industry. The festival was kick-started with the Public Relations Day on January 24. The enthusiasm of the participants touched another high when nimble-footed enthusiasts matched steps with the instructor at the Salsa workshop which needless to say was a super-hit.
Day two had the biggest names in journalism unraveling the ‘Method behind the madness in the media’. The second half of the day saw participants whacking their brains and thinking on their feet at the RJ Hunt and Duel, the debate. Film enthusiasts absorbed the nuances of Film making at an appreciation workshop conducted by Mr Ajit Duara, noted film critic.
The last day had the Gurus of advertising unleashing the power of creativity to a 900-strong audience, primarily comprising media aspirants in a session on ‘Out of the box advertising’. Creative frenzy touched an all-time high at the Ad-mad and Mad-ad contests later in the evening with grey cells churning out whacky concepts in a jiffy. The festival culminated in a scintillating rock competition with strummers adeptly matching the pace of their fingers with that of their vocal chords.
Says Tushar Jambhekar, the Coordinator of the festival-“When we hear words of praise and see excited souls… the effort just seems to be WORTH it!”
