Whistling Woods International students get an opportunity to learn from an expert.
Renowned ad-film maker and director of movies like Paa and Cheeni Kum, R Balki (RB) took the master class at Whistling Woods International (WWI) for the academic year 2010-2011. He shared his experiences of the Jaago Re Campaign and the two films he has directed.
A panel of questions was set, based on the common inquisitiveness of the students. They were asked by none other than the founder of WWI, Subhash Ghai.
Why is there a social message in most of your ads?
RB: The social message is not added consciously by me, my aim is to express a thought through a powerful idea.
How do you select newcomers for your film?
RB: It is purely on an audition basis.
Magic mantra for a good film?
RB: Script, script and script. People do not come to see craft. Craft in a film is only to support the story metaphorically.
As a concluding note he said. “Enjoy yourself while you are here. The real world outside is not as enjoyable as this!”
