Adding to the list of places to hang out at for Mumbaikars, Hiten and Gauri Tejwani recently opened a resto-bar named Barcode 053 at Andheri. With brick and wood interiors, old school music and an informal dining atmosphere, this is definitely a place to chill out. The couple has also added their touch to the place by putting up paintings from their personal collection.
The wooden bar takes up the large part of the seating area inside; it offers classic cocktails and mocktails along with a fine range of domestic and international beers, wines and other spirits. Speaking on his new baby Hiten says, “I had been looking to start a restaurant from a long time and the idea of an English pub has always fascinated me.” However, the enthusiastic entrepreneur promises that TV sagas won’t be played here and also plans to have theme parties in the future.
The eating section is handled by Crepe Station and the menu has a lot of universal finger food to indulge in. “Grilled chicken with black pepper is my favorite dish,” says Hiten. Also on the menu are signature pastas, burgers, salads and tandoor specialties. “I wanted to give people a complete package comprising of alcohol and good food,” adds the actor. Overall the place has a nice feel to it and we hope people accept this artist couple as business professionals, too. But when questioned about the authority, Hiten immediately admitted, “Gauri is the Boss.”
