Avengers Endgame- The hype, and the records

Avengers: Endgame, the sequel to the acclaimed Avengers: Infinity War, is a once in a generation movie. A movie so big that it smashed box office, and other records even before the release date. Here is a glimpse of all the accomplishments of the 22nd entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Endgame is the longest marvel movie lengthwise because of its “bollywood like” runtime: 3hrs and 58 seconds. The first trailer itself, released in December 2018 on Youtube, was the most watched trailer of all time, with 289 million views in 24 hours.  When the tickets for the movie went up on Fandago, on April 2nd,2019, it became the highest selling title for the first 24 hours. The movie grossed 120 million $- 140 million $ which is equal to 8,35,24,20,000 rupees during this period.

In India, the film sold one million(10 lakhs) tickets in just one day for the English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language screenings with 18 tickets being sold every single second.

The movie was released in 4662 theatres in North America and 1700 theatres in India. It grossed 1.2 billion dollars in the opening weekend which is almost twice of what Infinity war earned (624 million dollars). In India, Endgame grossed more than 100 crores in the first 3 days, to become the top grossing movie of our country in 2019. Even after this, the hype for the movie just kept increasing, and the audiences loved it enough to almost beat the number one grossing movie of all time, Avatar, released in 2009. The current total earnings amount up to a whopping 2.7 billion dollars, which is less than 100 million dollars short of being the highest grossing movie of all time.

Endgame created history because of the huge hype surrounding the movie. The cliff-hanger at the end of Avengers Infinity War left everyone wondering about the fate of their favourite heroes and the 1 year wait, built up a lot of anticipation. This led to numerous theories, and a lot of discussion on the internet. Even Google created a Gauntlet that would appear whenever the name of the main villain of these two movies, Thanos was searched on google, symbolizing his famous snap.
