A three-star Michelin chef, Roshan Kalra (Saif Ali Khan) gets fired from his job in New York because he punches a customer at the restaurant. He then flies to Kochi to spend some time with his son Arman (Svar Kamble) who lives with his ex-wife Radha Menon (Padmapriya Janakiraman) . He goes there with the idea of spending a few days but ends up spending more time with his wife and son. When his wife gets to know he’s been thrown out of his job, she suggests him to come up with his own food truck. Her good friend Biju (Milind Soman) offers his rundown double-decker minibus.
What’s Good –
This is the official remake of the American Movie Chef 2014 by Actor John Favreau this movie with its specially edited and changed screenplay appeals to the Indian audiences palate, The Acting performance of Saif Ali Khan and Svar Kamble played by his son is very superb, Actress Padmapriya Janakiraman who is an acclaimed Bharatnatyam Dancer and actress who has done films in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali makes her debut in her 6 th language film Industry Hindi.
Though well in her late thirties she still looks svelte and a dusky beauty worth admiring, The locales and the cinematography are the highlights of the film capturing the locales of Kerala and Delhi with perfect angles.
What’s Bad –
The Pace of the movie lags due to it being an emotional drama of father son and ex wife angle due to the estranged and longing of human emotions.
My Verdict –
The Movie Chef will remain as one of Saif Ali Khan established acting performances its slow simmering dish of human emotions and family ties with a fun filled foodie road trip in the background which will leave you hungry for some more.
