This is the final and the concluding chapter in the Planet of the Apes Trilogy. It was preceded by the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)”
The Apes under their wise leader Ceaser have been forced Into a war and go into hiding in the woods chased by an army of soldiers under the ruthless Colonel Alpha Omega threatening to wipe them off the face of the earth. Ceaser doesn’t want war and is willing to make peace if the Apes are left alone but will the Colonel agree? Can Ceaser win this war? Will he be able to save his Apes from certain death?
The VFX of this film are far more superior than the past two movies and you will see it in the war scenes and in the expression and in the eyes of the Apes,
This movie has an emotional connect but less action compared to the previous movie. Actor Andy Serkis as Ceaser and the giant orangutan Maurice played by Karin Konoval emote their parts well and so does Actor Woody Harrelson as the ruthless Colonel Alpha.
Compared to the intensity of the first two movies I felt the concluding movie was slower and not fast paced, nor edited well enough to leave you on the edge of the seat. Fans of the series will certainly feel dissatisfied and left yawning in bits and parts.
The box office registers will go ringing mad but the fans will be disappointed by the War which never was.
My Rating 3* out of 5.
