The movie is a biography of the superstar Sanjay Dutt. His trials and tribulations the ups and downs, the struggle, and battle in between.
The colorful lifestyle of Sanjay Dutt is portrayed as real as possible. You don’t have to be a fan to fall in love with the character, the terrible choices he made and the price he paid for it and how he accepted his demons and rectified his faults step by step.
Ranbir Kapoor’s transformation from the lanky fellow he is to the bulky body of Sanjubaba is a great effort and he emulates his every style and dialogues with perfection. He carries the movie from the first frame to the last.
Actor Paresh Rawal and Vicky Kaushal do a pretty good performance as well.The two songs stand out;
‘Kar Har Maidan Fateh’ the song which highlights his drug rehabilitation is very touching. The lyrics and Ranbir’s acting will give you goosebumps,The Item number at the end with Sanjay Dutt himself doing a special appearance, I felt that was another highlight of the film after it ended.
The movie is an emotional comedy drama which jumps between these 2 emotions multiple times making you laugh and cry again and again and again.
The rest of the songs of the movie not up to the high standards the movie sets, Atleast twice in the beautiful narrative the screenplay lags and becomes mundane and boring for a couple of minutes, not much though.
Fans of Sanjay Dutt and Ranbir Kapoor will love the movie,
Rhose eho arent Sanjay fans will start loving and sympathizing with him.
