The movie starts with a role scene of an animated video game scene with the credits rolling alongside. Our Hero (Aditya Roy Kapoor) wakes up to discover he is dreaming about it so he is a game developer who is coming to Mumbai to meet a web designer who will approve his game and forward it to an American Company and he shall become a millionaire.
Our Heroine (Shraddha Kapoor)he meets on the railway station who is disposing of her boy friend by threatening to jump in front of the train and die. They meet again at a friend’s wedding and instantly become friends and fall in love with each other.
Shraddha is due to go to Paris soon and Aditya has to go to LA to sell his game so they both decide to stay together till they go overseas as they love each other but don’t want to marry due to professional reasons. How how their live in relationship goes is the rest of the movie to see.
What’s good – The chemistry between the actors Aditya and Shraddha is simply superb they are so convincing of being in love, Veteran Actors Leela Samson and Naseeruddin Shah perform their supporting roles very well,
Being a live in relationship drama it could have been very boring and repetitive as there are a dime a dozen movies we have seen on that subject. But surprisingly its not, as Mani Ratnam has treated the story and screenplay quite differently and in fact the first half of the movie is very interesting and watchable.
What’s Bad – A. R. Rahman’s music leaves a lot to be desired the classic Humma Humma song is remade and what a disaster!
Mani Ratnam’s screenplay in the first half is very new and fresh but the length of the movie after the interval could have been shorter, the movie is very much predictable towards the end and feels stretched unnecessarily.
Verdict – OK Jaanu is a one time watchable flick which deals with the subject current fad of the youth who are not interested in being tied down in a marriage but prefers to love and stay together with no strings attached.
