Fanney Khan is inspired by the 2000 Dutch film, Everybody’s Famous. With a dream in his eyes and a tune in his heart, Anil Kapoor plays father to a teenage daughter who has musical inspirations, while Aishwarya Rai plays the role of a gorgeous singer with Rajkummar Rao as her love interest.
What’s Good –
It’s a very emotional story-line of a father and daughter who are both musically inclined and poverty unable to let them shine through. The casting is simply perfect and the acting by each actor in their character role is simply exemplary. The songs and lyrics are very meaningful melody according to situation rather than being chart busters or party hits.
What’s Bad –
The screenplay of the film is written very badly and the plot being not so fresh in the first place makes matters worse. Though very emotional in parts the film slumps in many parts and never actually grips you.
My Verdict –
An emotional musical which had lots of scope but fails due to poor writing.
My Rating 2.5 of 5 stars
