Arun Sachdeva (Sanjay Dutt) is a widower who has single handedly brought up his daughter Bhoomi Sachdeva (Aditi Rao Hydari) with utmost love and care.
Bhoomi is about to get married soon to Dr Neeraj (Sidhant Gupta) when 2 days prior to the wedding a neighborhood boy Vishal proposes to Bhoomi she rebukes him and tells him to get lost as she loves Neeraj.
Then Vishal and his Cousin Dhauli(Sharad Kelkar) who is a Goon and his accomplice these 3 ppl kidnap and rape Bhoomi in a semi unconscious state one day prior to the wedding.
Due to this incident Bhoomi’s marriage is called off and Arun is heartbroken the police and courtroom behave in an insensitive and callous way with the father and daughter and the accused are let free.
What will Arun and Bhoomi do now when law and society fail to give justice and
What’s Good –
The film belongs to actor Sanjay Dutt and he is powerful, sensitive, emotional and aggressive in this role Dutt saab emotes with the expression in his eyes more than actions. He shines in the fight scenes and simply rules the courtroom scene with thunderous dialogues, Yes the actor has aged but when he roars just before a fight its absolutely nostalgic sanju baba and the walking swag is still pretty much unmistakable.
Actress Aditi Rao Hydari too emotes very well and is able to garner pity and sympathy of her plight and helplessness.
Antagonist Sharad Kelkar gives in a seasoned effort and some worthy dialogues too.
Bhoomi isn’t a fresh film but yet Actor Sanjay Dutt making a comeback and the emotional father daughter bonding makes this rape and revenge drama worth a watch.
All the Dialogues by writer Raj Schandilya are superb.
What’s Bad –
Bhoomi isn’t a wow factor film of any sorts it has an age old rape and revenge story. Director Omung Kumar fails to build up the drama in the movie, The script and screenplay are devoid of any bright ideas or freshness,
The scenes are disjointed and their occurrence lacks coherence the movie is paralyzed due to bad editing,
The story written by Sandeep Singh is regressive, pedestrian and way past its expiry date.
My Verdict –
Actor Sanjay Dutt makes a comeback on a pedestal with this film and shines but is let down by a run of the mill script, bad editing and poor direction.
My Rating 3 of 5 Stars
