The 40 odd students in the Students’ Forum of NM are gearing up for a flurry of activities, reports Suhani Singh.
Students’ Forum (SF), the official representative body of NM College is on an activity spree this month. On 12th December, they got 75 students to clean the streets of Vile Parle. Tanya Rawal, PRO says, “We wanted to bring in some basic civic sense amongst the residents and students all over the city and eradicate indifference towards the environment.” Carrying multi-lingual banners, taking combative action by using brooms, and placing dustbins in specific locations are just some of the initiatives taken by SF.
The Forum is also organising the Student’s Week from 19th to 23rd December. Normal events like Rose Day, will be presented with a twist. Kunj Sanghvi, Joint Secretary says, “We’re planning to have someone on the guitar and a singer to play songs that one can dedicate to each other. They’ll be moving around the campus playing these songs.” Sounds fun, doesn’t it?
Students’ Forum also organises events for 20 odd societies – a Farewell for the final year students, a Fresher’s Kit for the junior college students, and developing an exhaustive database of students who can represent NM at other festivals. Kunj Sanghvi says, “Currently we need to improve the literary, arts and cultural scene in our campus. So, we’ll give crosswords that friends can solve together.”
So why be part of a Forum? Tanya Rawal sums it up saying, “You experience the extra curricular side, a completely different perspective of being a NMite”.
