Pakistani Rocks
IN THE BEFORE

Circa 1998: India's has its first encounter with Pakistani rock music. Junoon makes it big with 'Sayonee'. Strings soon join the party with 'Duur'. Their Indian honeymoon however is short-lived. Tata bye bye!

Circa 2003: Paanch saal baad, it happens again. This time around it's not a trickle, it's a flood of Pakistani bands. Artists like Atif Aslam, Fuzön and Jal become overnight successes. MTV or Surya TV, FM or Vividh Bharti no matter where you go, it's impossible to miss hits like 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Aankhon Ke Saagar'.

Critics however feel that these artists are 'one-album wonders' and will fade away into oblivion by the time their second albums hit Indian shores.

CIRCA 2008: With the unprecedented, immense success of their debut albums behind them, prominent Pakistani bands prepare to unleash their sophomore albums in India. Will they be able to replicate the success of their debut albums? Or will the Bhavishya-Vaani of the critics come true? Let's find out, shall we?

SECOND TIME LUCKY?
Making a good start is merely the first step. One can't just rest on past achievements. To prove that they are indeed lambi race ke horses, artists need to constantly prove themselves. This is exactly the challenge that bands like Jal, Fuzon and Mekaal Hasan Band face today. The success of their respective debut albums Aadat, Saagar and Sampooran helped them make a name for themselves in India but on their second outing, the Indian fans have bigger expectations from them.
