Rachana Sansad launches a Furniture design course
If you’re interested in designing, but want to explore something beyond fashion or interior decoration, furniture design could be the thing for you.
Rachana Sansad has launched a part time course in furniture design. The 35 week long course kicks off from August 17, 2006, including six weeks of field training. The course fee is Rs 15,000. All tools and materials would be provided by the college.
“The furniture designing programme is mainly focused on training students about the latest national and international trends in furniture manufacturing”, says Professor Rajagopalan at Rachna Sansad. The admissions for the course are still going on the first come and first have basis, with SSC as the minimum qualification. Regarding job prospects, Rajagopalan claims, “this course is first of its kind in the city, so we expect our students to get a good response from the industry”.
Another design course available at Rachna Sansad’s Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts is the three-year degree course in creative designing. With an elementary knowledge of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics and creative philosophy for the first year, students could get expertise in any of the above streams in the remaining years. The course concludes with a one-year optional internship.
With an annual fee of Rs 37,000, the session is scheduled to start from mid August. Though, a large number of seats have already been filled the remaining admissions would be done by the Sansad, with the minimum qualification of intermediate, informed Rashmi, the course-in-charge at Rachana Sansad.
