Ragam 2014, the much awaited cultural festival of the country’s premier institution, NIT Calicut connected Farhan live for the first time in the state of Kerala. It was the second day of the cultural night and the crowd couldn’t hold their feet on ground. The multi faceted Farhan Akhtar mesmerised everyone to sing and dance to his matinee numbers. With recent back to back hits in the box-office, Farhan snatched everyone’s attention and is gaining momentum among the youth of the country. An acknowledgment a person as talented as him deserves.
With a large number of external participants crossing the 2000 mark from various colleges like VIT, Manipal University, CET ,NIFT ,Indian Naval Academy, the premises of the institute rocked to a festive mood at a high decibel.
The three day extravaganza began with the inauguration by Khadeeja Mumtaz on 13 March, 2014. On the first night, the electric performance of the band Lagori energised the spectators and brought them in resonance with the event. The next night was all Farhan’s regime followed by the ‘Choreo nite’.The concluding night was a Badtameez performance by Benny Dayal. His continuous numbers included a cocktail of both local and Bollywood favourites.
One of the attention grabbing highlights in the shows was the quad-copter designed by the college club -‘Aero unwired’ that continuously captured the glimpses of the event from air. It was much appreciated and instilled the feel of a cultural festival in a technical institute of excellence.
The organisers took appreciable effort in successfully conducting Ragam, as the institute just came out of a trauma, wherein a student died in an unfortunate accident followed by two week suspension of college that intervened with the preparation of the event.
