In the past few weeks with the research JAM has conducted on some of the leading B-Schools in France, we figured out that there was something for every niche field in the huge domain of management.
Right out of college and looking for a field switch
There are many students who generally want a stream switch right out of college or with a little bit of experience. France has many specialized masters programs that do the needful. ESC Rennes, Skema Business School & Toulouse Business School give students options such as a Master’s of Science degree in Finance, Marketing and Communication, Banking & International Finance, Marketing, International Accounting, Management Control & Auditing, International Finance, Global Business Management, Sports, Leisure & Tourism Management, Sustainable Management & Eco-innovation and many more programs. These programs prefer Business or Economic graduates. These programs are about 15 -16 months long and require a Bachelor’s degree with a valid GMAT/ GRE score.
There are Master’s degrees offered only for engineering students in courses such as Fluids Engineering for Industrial Processes, Electrical Engineering Systems, AgroFood Chain, Electronics for embedded applications and many more. These are offered at Institut National Polytechnique Toulouse.
Have work experience and looking for an MBA
The MBA program in France has been voted one of the best in the world on the FT Rankings. ESSEC stands out in this league with their 1 year Global MBA designed for candidates with atleast 2 years work experience in a managerial role and want to fast track their career. There are specialized MBA programs offered too for candidates who have pre decided the career they want to flourish in such as International Luxury Brand Management, Hospitality Management. Toulouse Business School offers a one of its kind MBA in Aerospace which is a 1 year full time program and a 2 year part time program. Vatel offers a full time 2 year MBA degree in International wine & spirits business management. Incase if there are students looking for a joint degree i.e an MSc and an MBA, INSEEC provides the same in their 2 year track program.
Looking to work and study side by side
France also has the Grand Ecole program offered at ESCP, ESSEC, Toulouse and Skema Business School. The speciality of this program is that while pursuing their Masters degree in management, the candidate also gets to do internships in his/ her area of interest. Hence, this program, unlike any other stretches into a 2 year or a 3 year program. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from outside France and at least 3 years of university education while applying for the program. Also, the candidate must be below 27 or 30 years of age (depending on different schools). The GMAT/ GRE and TOEFL/ IELTS scores are required while application.
The courses offered by various colleges also have various sister colleges across other countries. For eg. ESSEC has their school present in Singapore too. The added advantage schools get is that students turn out to be more culturally sensitive and aware of the markets they have to work in.
